I’m writing this Style Note the day after Thanksgiving, sitting comfortably on my sofa with a cup of coffee. It made me realize something funny: I rarely write these at my office desk. Maybe because, when I write to you, it truly feels like I’m talking to friends.

I hope you had a warm, meaningful Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones.

And because this is a conversation about style, we have to talk about Black Friday.

Have you noticed how wild the sales are this year? Discounts everywhere for more than a week, and many brands are adding new items or increasing markdowns every few days.

You know I always encourage intentional shopping. And that doesn’t mean not shopping, it means choosing well, knowing your style, and buying what will truly serve your wardrobe.

Yes, I shopped this Black Friday, and I mentioned on Instagram Stories that I would share not only what I bought, but why.

My Black Friday Strategy (and What I Bought)

I keep a wish list every season. Some pieces fill gaps in my wardrobe, silhouettes that create new vibes, or a color that opens fresh combinations. Others are small updates that keep my wardrobe feeling modern. I start this list at the beginning of the season. It helps guide me, and I often even skip something.

An example:
This year, I added animal-print ballet flats to my wish list. I still like them, but when I looked at my wardrobe, I realized I already have enough pieces in that print. So they didn’t make the cut.

Here’s what did:

1. A V-neck gray sweater

I returned the first one I ordered, the gray was too cool on me. I kept looking, found one with beautiful details, waited for Black Friday… and got it. It arrived today, and I love it.

2. Walkable tall brown boots

My old ones had very high heels, so I wanted a comfortable version in different widths. They’re on their way.

3. An “interesting pair of black pants.”

Something modern, tailored, and versatile for going out or working with clients. I found the perfect pair at Soeur, a French brand. I checked the tariffs and shipping and waited to see if they would be discounted; they were, and they arrived quickly — a great purchase.

Extra tip:

I think Black Friday is the best moment to stock up on makeup, skincare you truly use, lingerie, pajamas… the practical things. I ordered some Jones Road mini Miracle Balm to carry on my bag.

Would I buy anything else? Probably not for myself, but I still have holiday gifts to shop for.
