Labor Day feels unusually early this year, making summer seem shorter than usual. Here in New York, mornings and evenings are already chilly, and some trees in my backyard are starting to turn brown. That’s the signal: a new season is arriving, and it’s time to give a little love to our wardrobes. I invite you to do two things with me: 1. Look Back at SummerLook at your summer clothes and ask yourself: Write it down, you’ll thank yourself next year. It’s also a good time to decide what to donate or sell. And don’t forget: before putting clothes away, wash or dry-clean them if needed. A small drop of white wine may not be visible now, but in a few months, it can turn into a permanent stain. Labor Day sales are still on, and this can be an excellent moment for transitional pieces; shop with intention. 2. Create a Fall Wish ListThis is the fun part! As a Virgo, I love lists, and a seasonal wish list is one of my favorites. It helps you shop with more purpose and avoid regrets. Your list doesn’t have to be final; you can continue to adjust it throughout the season. Mine includes: Needs: walkable tall brown boots (the ones I have are too high), and black suede platforms to replace my well-loved pair. Nice-to-haves: an asymmetrical cardigan or a cardigan-blazer hybrid for working from home and running errands. Just in case: a suede bag in a versatile color. Fun addition: animal-print flats.
Why more shoes? Besides loving them, I believe shoes instantly update an outfit. Brand tip of the month: I’m highlighting one brand below that offers shoes in different widths - narrow, medium, and wide. I wore their sandals to a wedding welcome dinner last month, and they were so comfortable that I went back for more styles.
