Australian Fashion Is Arriving in NYC: Here’s What I Saw

Over the years, working as a stylist and teaching other stylists, I’ve learned to pay attention to patterns in the fashion industry. For a while, I’ve been noticing a shift in the brands arriving in New York City. After the French and Scandinavian waves, I had a feeling Australian brands would be next.

Recently, I visited We Wear Australian, a new store in Soho that brings together a curated selection of Australian designers.

The concept is very interesting. The store works as a residency, hosting a rotation of up to 35 Australian brands. Many of them were new to me, which made the visit even more exciting.

We Wear Australian was originally created to support the Australian fashion industry at the beginning of COVID. Now, it has evolved into a physical space, giving these brands visibility in one of the world's most important fashion cities.

What did I think? I saw beautiful pieces, good quality, and honestly, very good prices for what was offered.

It’s always interesting to discover brands that are not everywhere yet. It brings freshness and new references, especially for those of us who work with style every day.

Their e-commerce is already up and running, and they plan to open another location on the Upper East Side next year. If you are in Soho, it’s definitely worth a visit.
