Dress Codes and Personal Style: Lessons from Kensington Palace
While I was in London this past May, I visited a wonderful exhibition at Kensington Palace called Dress Code. It explored how members of the British royal family and other public figures have used dress codes both to follow tradition and to express personal identity.
One of the highlights was how Princess Diana mastered this balance. As the exhibition noted, she learned how to create a dramatic impact by working within the royal dress codes, but always adding her own unmistakable sense of style. We couldn't agree more.

Another part of the exhibition I loved: fashion students were invited to research and recreate some of the most iconic outfits worn by these figures. The results were creative and thought-provoking, showing how young designers interpreted the stories behind the clothes.

It made me reflect on how we all navigate dress codes in our lives, especially at work. There are always rules to follow, whether formal or unspoken. But that doesn’t mean losing your personal style. In fact, it’s the little things that set you apart - how you wear color, the way you choose accessories, the fit of your clothes. That’s where your personality shines.
So let me ask you: How easy is it for you to express your style at work? Do you feel like yourself in your professional wardrobe?
If this is something you’ve been struggling with, my service Style Bliss was designed with this exact challenge in mind. We’ll work together to make sure your wardrobe reflects your current goals and your unique self, while still fitting the context you need to dress for.
