From Menorca to London: What I Wore and What Worked

Wedding welcome cocktail

My recent trip was to attend a wedding in Menorca, Spain, and then we needed to fly to a big city to return to New York. We decided to spend a few days in London before heading home.

Wedding ceremony

For Menorca, the wedding had four events, so I packed three dresses and a caftan for the pool party. I also took two pairs of sandals - both needed to work for the events and the rest of the trip, including London. All the outfits worked well for the occasions, but the dress I wore to the welcome cocktail was a standout. I’ve honestly never received so many compliments on an outfit!

Post wedding: pool party

It’s funny because I hesitated to buy that dress. I thought it might be too girly or too Caribbean resort-like for my personal style. In the end, I decided to give it a try, and I’m glad I kept it. Maybe because it’s solid red, it felt more aligned with my style. It’s not something I’ll wear all year round, but I know I’ll have chances to wear it again in New York this summer or on future trips.

Sunset cocktail: last wedding event

Here are some of the outfits I wore in London. A completely different vibe from Menorca, but with a little planning, I packed pieces that worked beautifully for both places.

These pants = my hero piece! I wore it for all the flights and in London

I wore everything I packed, except one shirt I debated bringing (isn’t that always the way?).

My hero pieces:

  • Nylon pants: light, comfortable, modern (hello, barrel silhouette!), easy to spot-clean, and in a neutral color. I wore them on the flights and during our days in London.

  • Short trench coat: the perfect third piece: lightweight, roomy enough for layering, and more practical than a long coat for this trip. Since I knew it wouldn’t rain all day, it was the right call.

Read this post to discover how I plan my outfits before traveling, just as I do for my clients for work, social events, or any other occasion. Having my wardrobe uploaded and my looks organized made packing and getting dressed each day so much easier.
