Packing for a Summer weekend getaway

How can I avoid overpacking? I frequently get this question from my clients.

The answer is simple: invest in a capsule wardrobe. That way, everything is compatible. All your clothes will work well together, especially your shoes. On a larger scale, this is how our closets should be. A well-packed suitcase is a proof that it's possible to live with fewer items. All you need is a curated list that has what serves you.

Here are seven useful tips to help you pack wisely for your upcoming journey:

  1. Start with Summer dresses. Depending on the duration of your trip, add one or two.

  2. Include a pair of bottom pieces such as shorts and light-colored pants.

  3. Choose three tops that match your bottoms.

  4. Find a light jacket that fits your dress, shorts, or pants. For example, get a blue denim jacket.

  5. Pick comfortable sandals. I don't see any reason to take heels for a Summer trip unless you have to attend an important event. Nice flats can also look chic!

  6. As for swimwear and cover-ups, look for products that suit your travel plans. Is sightseeing on your itinerary? Do you need cover-ups that you can bring to a restaurant?

  7. Finally, remember to pack your favorite accessories. Jewelry makes all the difference in the end!
