Lipstick Ribbons: One More Tool For Your Color Analysis
My approach to color analysis has always been about more than just finding your color palette. It's about giving you the knowledge to incorporate your colors into your real life - your style, your profession, your lifestyle, and all the different moments we experience.
And it's not just about clothes! I talk about hair color, makeup, and accessories because they're all important. Actually, the color of your eyeglasses or lipstick is even more important since they're right on your face.
I'm constantly researching the best materials to use in my color analysis sessions, and I've just received a new tool that's incredibly helpful for clients who struggle with finding the right makeup colors: lipstick ribbons.
What Are Lipstick Ribbons?
These are three ribbons with different tones and temperatures of pink, red, and nude lipsticks.
Why do I love this tool? Because we can't say someone doesn't look good in red lipstick, for example. It depends on the temperature, value, and intensity of the color. There's a red for everyone.
The same goes for nude lipsticks - there's a myth that they're similar for everyone, and they're absolutely not.
Using these ribbons, it's easy for clients to see how different shades look on them. Some create perfect harmony with their natural beauty, while others do exactly the opposite.
Beyond the Palette
After your color analysis session, I always send a digital recap and a catalog featuring a wide range of makeup products, clothes, and accessories in your newly found color palette. This helps you get familiar with your colors, but also helps you understand something important: your color palette is a guide, not a rule.
Your style will always come first. You won't love all colors in your palette the same way you probably don't love all kinds of prints.
Let me give you an example from my own experience: I love warm yellows and oranges - they both look great on me. However, I don't love many shades of yellow-oranges for clothes, like the color called "Orange Peel." It's just a personal preference, and that's perfectly okay.
Learning That Lasts
Whether I do your color analysis in person (if you're in the NYC or Westchester, NY area) or virtually using digital drapes, you'll learn how to incorporate your colors into your life. It's all about learning and, as I always say, knowledge is powerful.
After 17 years of doing color analysis, I've seen how transformative it can be when people truly understand their colors - not just memorize them, but know how to use them in ways that feel authentic and exciting.
Ready to discover your perfect colors and learn how to make them work for your lifestyle? Color analysis sessions are available both in-person and virtually.
