8 reasons why you should have more belts in your closet

Belts are probably the most neglected item in women’s wardrobes. And I can prove it to you!

The following scenario is very common to happen: I'm working with my clients creating outfits using the existing clothes in their wardrobe. Once I ask if they have any belts to finish an outfit they simply reply by saying they never wear one!

This situation happens all the time!

However, a belt is a staple accessory because it has the power to completely change our outfits.

That's why I gathered 8 reasons why (and how) you should start adding more belts to your closet.

Here you are:

1 - STYLE AND ELEVATE

A belt is a great way to elevate any basics such as a pair of denim + a T-shirt. It creates texture to the look as well as it adds structure.

2 - BELTS CAN MAKE YOU MORE ELEGANT

Monochromatic outfits (clothes at the top and bottom with the same color) look more polished with a belt following the same tone.

Your outfit will also be super interesting with a belt in a different color.

3- WANNA LOOK TALLER?

If you wish to elongate your legs, choose a belt that has the same color of your pants or skirt.

On the other hand, if your goal is to elongate your torso, wear a belt that matches the color of your shirt.

4 - WANNA LOOK SLIMMER?

If you want to camouflage your stomach area, choose a belt with color and buckle similar to your clothes.

5 - ATTENTION TO WIDTH!

The most versatile belt is about 1" to 1 1/2” wide. This width works for everyone plus it can easily slip into our pants' loops.

6 - PICKING CLASSIC COLORS

If you want to buy one good belt, choose either a black or light brown - it all depends on your wardrobe or preference!

7 - LEATHER BELTS

Leather belts look great over a blazer or a coat. It changes the way your coat looks and your styling will appear to be more current.

8 - MIX AND MATCH!

You can always play with color combinations wearing a colorful belt!
