What if I told you that cummerbunds are becoming a fashion trend?
Traditionally, a cummerbund is a wide, pleated fabric sash worn around the waist, usually by men with a tuxedo or a formal black-tie outfit. Its purpose is to cover the waistband of tuxedo pants, which are not meant to be worn with a belt.
But now, cummerbunds are making their way into women's fashion!
I first noticed a creative fashionista wearing one, and then I started seeing guests at recent Fashion Weeks wearing different versions of this accessory.

Think of it as a statement belt that can transform even a simple outfit. And it doesn't have to be so wide, especially if you are petite or have a fuller bust.
After seeing a few interesting ideas, I decided to try making my own version using two of my husband's ties. Why? I love the idea of mixing two different patterns, and since he doesn't wear ties anymore, it would be a meaningful way to give them a new life.
Will it work? I'll be back to show you the results!
For now, get inspired by these images from recent Fashion Weeks. Maybe you'll look at this traditional accessory in a completely different way!
