How do you wear a knee-length skirt without looking outdated?

I recently posted about skirts at New York Fashion Week. We saw many lengths and silhouettes, both on the runway and on the guests, including the comeback of the knee-length skirt.

And I know what many women are thinking: How do you wear a knee-length skirt without looking outdated?

For my first day of NYFW events, I wore a knee-length skirt that I bought last year. I kept the rest of the outfit simple with a black T-shirt.

Shoes make a big difference with this length. I chose very open sandals with a low block heel, which helped make the outfit feel lighter and more current.

Now that the weather is getting cooler, I can imagine wearing the same skirt with a fitted turtleneck and slingbacks, maybe adding tights. Yes, it’s time to wear the tights you already have!

Later in the season, I would switch the slingbacks for knee-high boots.

Sometimes, when a silhouette comes back, it takes our eyes a little time to adjust. Instead of deciding it’s not for you right away, try it with pieces you already have and see how you can make it feel like you.

I’m happy to play with this silhouette again.
