Transparent outfits: the best slips to wear with see-through dresses

Lately, I've been getting a lot of questions from my clients about Summer dresses. They like the idea of wearing one, but they don't feel comfortable because some pieces are too revealing.

For instance, eyelet fabric is trendy now. This is a classic feminine type of material with embroidered "eyes" or holes.

But, unless you plan to wear it as a cover-up, you might need to have something underneath see-through dresses. In this case, what really works is putting on a slip.

Here are my suggestions:

  • If you purchased clothes that need a slip dress under them, start looking for one as of right now. You need to try them on together. If this pair doesn't work out, return them both.

  • If it is a fitted slip, try it on by moving your body - I mean walking around your home and sitting down. Does it stay in place? If it is bothering you now, you won't feel any more comfortable later. The best thing you can do is to return it!

  • Check the cleavage. You shouldn't be able to see the slip, only your dress!

  • Remember that slips are in general made of not-natural fabric. It means your cotton light dress will be warmer than you planned. Maybe it's better to look for another dress with thicker cotton fabric, or even in a different color. I found only one option in Pima cotton if you have a preference for natural fabrics.

  • Depending on your style, another option is to put on a bodysuit in your skin tone. You can also try a slip skirt and a tank top, always taking into consideration the area you are most concerned about.

  • It's vital to pay attention to your underwear. It's often under our clothes, but when it's not right in the right place, we can see it. (Actually, I'm planning to write a post about bras soon. Do you have any questions about lingerie?)
