Packing for this trip was a little challenging! I had different occasions to dress for, starting with a Color Analysis conference in Porto, Portugal, where I was a guest speaker, including dinners and events.
After that, my husband and I went on a road trip through northern Spain, Brittany, and Normandy in France. This part of the trip was much more relaxed, with lots of walking and sightseeing. Finally, we spent a few days in Paris during Fashion Week.
I had planned my wardrobe thinking we would have some cooler days. But two days before leaving New York, I checked the weather again and realized it would be much warmer than expected.
Last-minute changes! I removed one cotton sweater (I had packed two) and added three pairs of longer shorts, or bermudas. I'm so glad I did because I wore them a lot!
What Worked Best in My Suitcase?
A few pieces became my favorites during the trip:
My nylon pants: Comfortable for flights, sightseeing, and everything in between. I even washed them at the hotel, and they were ready to wear again.
My red sneakers: A gift from a brand that allowed me to choose the color. I picked red, and they worked beautifully with so many outfits. They were comfortable for all the walking, too.
A men's knit blazer from Uniqlo: One of those versatile pieces that worked with different outfits. Comfortable, practical, and easy to style.
My Bermuda shorts: An excellent last-minute addition, especially with the warmer weather.
And here's something interesting: I didn't pack a single pair of black shoes! And I didn't miss them.
What Did I Learn?
Even with careful planning, sometimes we need to make adjustments. Checking the weather right before leaving made a big difference.
I also confirmed something I always tell my clients: you don't need a completely different outfit for every day of your trip. Versatile pieces that work together give you more possibilities without taking your entire wardrobe with you.
I'm sharing photos of what I actually wore throughout the trip. You'll see how I repeated pieces, changed combinations, and made my wardrobe work for different occasions.
And yes, I wore almost everything I packed!
