Yellow: The Color Many Women Avoid (But It’s in Every Palette)
When I do a color analysis, I always start with a conversation. I ask several questions to personalize the palette to each client’s style and preferences.
One question I always ask is: “What colors do you never wear or don’t gravitate to?”
Most clients answer yellow.
But when they receive their palette, they are often surprised to see that yellow is included. In fact, every palette has some version of yellow.
Just like in the image above, there are many tones and shades of yellow: soft, bright, warm, cool, light, and deep.
I have a theory about why so many women say they don’t like yellow. At some point in life, we probably tried something yellow and hated how it looked on us. Most likely, it simply wasn’t the right tone of yellow.
Of course, it’s also possible that yellow just isn’t a color you love, and that’s perfectly fine.
What’s interesting is that yellow was very present in the Spring 2026 fashion shows. Designers presented many different interpretations of the color, from soft pastels to brighter tones.
So here is a simple tip:
If you would like to experiment with yellow this season but don’t know where to start, butter yellow is often considered a universal shade. It tends to work well with many complexions.
And if you would like to understand which tones truly work best for you, a color analysis can be very helpful. You’ll learn more about your natural beauty and how to choose clothing, accessories, and makeup in a more intentional way.
