My carry-on. What is missing: the sweater I took to wear on the airplane (tied on my waist), a pashmina (also with me), two pjs, and underwear. Everything in a small carry-on. 

In a second bag, I have a hat, umbrella, and sunglasses (pictured here), a case with small-sized shampoo, etc. 

When you receive this newsletter, I’ll be just arriving back in New York after 10 days in the South of Italy. I’m writing it before the trip, right after packing a very small carry-on (plus an extra bag with toiletries, jewelry, and eyeglasses).
