A Feminine Blouse, Styled My Way
Do you know that feeling when you love a piece at the store, buy it, and then get home only to realize the styling doesn't feel like you? I see this all the time with clients.
Someone loves button-down shirts but doesn't like how they look with a blazer. Someone else loves floral dresses but would never wear them with ballet flats. The piece itself is not the problem. Sometimes it's simply the styling.
This blouse is a good example. It has feminine details, which I love, even though I don't have a particularly feminine or romantic style.
Many women think that if they like a feminine piece, they need to style it in a feminine way from head to toe. I don't agree. The secret is not what you wear. It's how you wear it.
A blouse with pleats or other feminine details can feel completely different when styled with more relaxed pieces, statement accessories, or elements that create a bit of contrast.
When an outfit doesn't feel right, instead of immediately returning the item, look in the mirror and ask yourself: "What's missing here for this outfit to feel like me?" The answer is often simpler than you think. And yes, when I bought this blouse, I already had plenty of ideas for how to wear it. I was simply waiting for warmer days in New York.
