Cobalt Blue Is Back. But Is It Your Color?

Last Fall, it was very hard to find cobalt blue clothes for my clients. But when I watched the Fall fashion shows, I noticed that cobalt blue was appearing in many collections. It was a sign that this color would soon be easier to find in stores.

And now? We are finally seeing many more options in the Summer collections. That caught my attention because cobalt blue is not a typical Summer blue shade. When we think about Summer colors, we often imagine lighter blues inspired by the sky or the ocean. Cobalt blue feels bolder, brighter, and a bit unexpected for the season, which is exactly why I am happy to see it back in stores.

I recently went shopping with a client, and we found her a cobalt blue shirt. She looked beautiful in it. The reason is simple: cobalt blue is a bright, cool color, just like her complexion.

This is something I always explain to clients. A color can be trendy, but that does not mean it will be equally on everyone. For me, cobalt blue is not my best color. Does that mean I can never wear it? Of course not.

When there is a color I like, but it is not ideal near my face, I have a few tricks:

  • I can wear it on the bottom, such as pants or a skirt.

  • I can also combine it with colors that work better for me. In this case, orange and rusty tones are complementary to blue and can create a beautiful balance.

  • Another option is makeup. A warm blush or lipstick can make a big difference and help connect the color to your complexion.

This is why I believe color analysis is so helpful. It is not about creating rules or telling you what you can and cannot wear. It is about understanding why certain colors make you look more vibrant, and learning how to make other colors work when you love them.

Have you noticed cobalt blue showing up in stores lately? And is it a color you enjoy wearing?

If you have ever wondered why some colors make you look vibrant and rested while others seem to overwhelm you, a Color Analysis can help. Together, we identify the colors that naturally harmonize with your complexion, your best neutrals, your ideal makeup shades, and even how to wear the colors you love that may not be part of your palette.

I offer Color Analysis sessions both online and in person. Click here to learn more or schedule your session.
